Spring Angel Baskets (80) & (160) Hot Lunches
On Thursday (3/31/22), AWCA provided 80 Angel Love Baskets & 160 Lunches to Low-Income Single Parent Families, Seniors, and Individuals in Need struggling due to the pandemic for the 13th round of the monthly COVID-19 Relief Angel Basket Drive. AWCA prepared hot lunches provided in partnership with Holy Name, 15lb bag of rice, snacks, masks, sanitizers, face shields, and AWCA LIFE YouTube card. Please stay tuned for the next round in May.

100 Valentine’s Day Love Food Baskets
On Friday 2/25/22, AWCA prepared 100 Angel Love Baskets for its 12th round of COVID-19 Relief Angel Food Basket Fundraiser. To celebrate Valentine’s day this month, AWCA provided to families of low-income with young children (elementary to high school) & single mom families all struggling due to the pandemic. Baskets contained Ramen Instant Packs, (1) $40 McDonalds gift card with receipt per family, a pack of Chocopie for children, KN95 Masks, Sanitizers, AWCA Bible Message of Hope Bookmark.

On Thursday, 1/27/22, AWCA prepared 100 Angel Baskets for its 11th round of COVID-19 Relief Angel Food Baskets. To celebrate Lunar New Year, AWCA provided Lunar Angel Baskets to Seniors and those struggling due to COVID-19 (registration on a first come-first serve basis). Baskets contained AWCA Happiness Dumplings (donated by our Dumpling purchasers) & rice cakes for rice cake soup, KN95 masks donated by Korean Bergen News, sanitizers, face shields, a AWCA message of comfort card, AWCA LIFE Youtube card, 2022 annual calendar, and winter scarves donated by Hana Mission as well as 100 Lunch Boxes provided through Holy Name. Happy Lunar New Year!

60 Baskets + 340 Lunches =400
On Friday, 12/17/21, AWCA prepared 60 Angel Baskets & 340 Lunches for its tenth round of COVID-19 Relief Angel Food Baskets. AWCA provided Christmas Angel Baskets to Single Parent Families in need and Seniors suffering from illness. Baskets contained hot lunch boxes and Ottogi Instant Food Packs, PPE items (masks, sanitizers) as well as our Christmas card, a 2022 calendar, and 60 Kids’ Gift Boxes.
Thank you to the Ottogi company for providing food products, the New Jersey Harvest Church for generously donating decorated kids boxes with gift items, Holy Name for partnering with us to provide weekly free lunches, United Healthcare for the annual calendar, as well as the Korean American Association of Palisades Park for coordinating pick-up and delivery of the Angel Baskets for distribution.

On Friday, 9/17/21, AWCA prepared 80 Angel Baskets for its ninth round of COVID-19 Relief Angel Food Baskets. In honor of the upcoming Chuseok Holiday (Korean Thanksgiving Day), AWCA provides Angel Baskets to 80 Seniors, Single-Parent Homes, and people in need – only eligible to members experiencing difficulty due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Baskets contained food items (15lb rice & a variety of Ottogi Instant Food Packs) and PPE items (masks, sanitizers) as well as our annual newsletter and AWCA LIFE YouTube card.
Baskets available for pick up at the AWCA center from 10AM-12PM on a first-come first served basis by prior registration.

On Friday, 7/16/21, AWCA prepared 120 free hot lunch meal boxes for its eighth round of Angel Baskets. 70 lunch boxes were distributed to the 2021 AWCA SAT/ACT Scholarship Class students and their families to take home, as well as parents who attended the Free Educational Seminar that day at AWCA. 50 lunch boxes were packaged and distributed through delivery to low-income seniors living in Bergen County.

(Seventh Round) Angel Basket (Total: 240 baskets)
80 Baskets + 160 Lunches = 240
AWCA prepared 80 COVID-19 Relief Angel Baskets this round 7 containing PPE items (masks, sanitizers, whistles) and food items as well as canned goods generously donated by the Montclair (NJ) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. of the Montclair Kappa League, which held a month long food drive collecting goods to be donated to AWCA in honor of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May.
On Friday, 6/18, AWCA hosted a Free Food Drive Pick-Up Event to distribute Angel Baskets for Teaneck residents, local community members, and people in need. AWCA also prepared 160 Lunches, sponsored by the Holy Name Meal Project. 40 lunches were delivered to Teaneck residents, 40 to community members in need, and 80 to the Teaneck Police Department for Father’s Day.
On Wednesday, 6/23, AWCA prepared the remaining Angel Baskets to distribute to senior members in need along with the weekly lunches through pick-up and delivery.
**We are proud to partner with Holy Name Medical Center through The New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s Sustain & Serve NJ grant program, which provides funding to organizations throughout the Garden State to support restaurants negatively impacted by the pandemic.

In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month 2021 in May, Family Month, and Mother’s Day, this round, we delivered around 110 Angel Baskets to seniors & members in financial need, and single parent families in Bergen County in addition to our weekly Free Hot Lunch Program for seniors (about ~160 per week).

• Friday Angel Baskets contained rice, ramen, happiness dumplings, masks, and sanitizers, self-protection alarms, and an informational bias crime sheet for 30 seniors and members in need. Drive Thru Pick Up Event, first come first serve at our AWCA center from 10AM-3PM.
• Saturday Angel Baskets contained 160 free hot lunch boxes (2 per 1 household) as well as 80 kids gift boxes for single mom households. *As a generous donation from Cham Doen Presbyterian Church in Englewood, the kids’ boxes were decorated and packaged by the CDPC Youth Group and contained toys and play/study materials for young students. With the coordination of the Korean American Association of Palisades Park, Pick up & delivery started at 10AM in Palisades Park.

We are all facing a difficult time due to COVID-19 pandemic. To respond to this emergency situation, AWCA has been offering “COVID-19 Assistance Services” for our seniors, youths, and community members in need.
At the height of COVID-19, AWCA was one of the first organizations in New Jersey to create angel food baskets to our needy population across many groups.
Since April 2020, we have delivered over 865 Angel Baskets to families in need.
We will carry out this ministry until the COVID-19 crisis comes to an end.

12-15-20 (Tues) – Christmas Angel Baskets for Seniors contained 15lb rice, sweet potatoes, masks, 2021 calendar, AWCA Christmas Card, and AWCA LIFE Youtube Card. From 10am-4pm, AWCA staff, volunteers, and board members helped deliver 90 Angel Baskets to the homes of seniors.
12-19-20 (Sat) – Christmas Angel Baskets for Single Parent Families and People suffering from Illness contained 15lb rice or packs of ramen, PPE face masks, AWCA’s Christmas Greeting Card, AWCA LIFE Youtube Card, 2021 Annual Calendar, and 2 Mart Gift Cards ($100 total monetary value). From 9am-1pm, with the coordination of the Korean American Association of Palisades Park, AWCA distributed 70 Angel Baskets.
12-22-20 (Tues) – In addition to the Christmas Angel Baskets, AWCA prepared 200 gift bags for the Korean Medical Staff at Englewood Health. In an effort to thank our frontline healthcare workers, AWCA prepared and delivered gift bags of 5 KN95 grade protective face masks, hand sanitizers, as well as our Christmas Card and AWCA LIFE Youtube Card to the Englewood Health Staff at 3pm.

COVID-19 Relief Angel Basket Drive
During the Covid-19 quarantine period, many business owners, employees, seniors, and single-parent families are facing the fear of survival. AWCA immediately responded to this crisis and started the COVID-19 Relief Angel Baskets Drive, collecting the necessary survival products to put into a basket and delivering them to the families in need once a month. The Angel Baskets contain rice, dumplings, ramens with other food products, masks, sanitizers, etc. This food drive is open to the public; anyone may contribute to this ministry.
Until now we have delivered more than “387” angel baskets to the families needed. We’ll continue to do this ministry until Covid-19 crisis ends. What AWCA Have Done Since the Covid-19 Outbreak
- 5-Minute-Prayer Before the Bed Movement for overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Emergency Phone Service (Hot Line) operates for COVID-19 update news through 201-862-1116, from 9 am. to 12 am. daily in Korean, Japanese, and Chinese language.
- The updated news on the AWCA website and SMS, such as, Facebook, Twitter, and Kakao Talk for Korean, Wechat for Chinese, and Lime for Japanese. Also, provide the update COVID-19 news through Englewood Hospital Network, which is one of the community group partners.
- Social Service provides Information and Assistance about revised social benefit plans, Food Stamp, Unemployment Benefit Insurance according to COVID-19. Since the outbreak of Covid-19 we have served 342 cases related to the Covid-19.
- Through AWCA’s Social Welfare Broadcasting, Finding Happiness with AWCA, at 8:30am every Saturday through AM1660, airing to Tri-states, we serve on the community with COVID-19 updates and related new benefits from the federal or states.
- During this COVID-19 quarantine period, AWCA assists and helps the application process of receiving meal service at home for those over 60 years old. Meal service delivers frozen food packs for a 7 days’ supply to the individual recipients’ home.

The Asian Women’s Christian Association, Inc. (AWCA) is a 501(C) (3) non-profit social service organization in Teaneck, NJ. AWCA serves our community with women’s leadership. This year, the AWCA celebrates its 40th year of service to the community according to our mission statement:
AWCA is centered on the love of Christ, and through our work we provide Asian women and their families with the resources to become healthy, contributing members of society. We accomplish this through education, social services, and homecare program.
We are all having a difficult time due to the Covid-19 pandemic. To respond this emergency situation AWCA has been offering “Covid-19 Hotline Service and Covid-19 Relief Angel Basket Drive.”
The Angel Baskets contain rice, dumplings, and spam with other food items. Alternatively, the baskets may contain grocery gift cards to families in need. The purpose of this drive is to secure basic food needs to the families who are in need of help. We have already delivered more than 200 angel baskets to many families. COVID-19 Relief Angel Baskets Drive
What We Have Been Doing:
AWCA has been following the prevention protocol education for our community members in keeping personal safety and quarantine to fight against the COVID 19 since it broke out from January. From February on, AWCA closed its center and started the virtual communication program with our members through Public Chat Rooms through Kakao Talk and Email blasts.
According to the public code of conduct about more serious order of staying home and closing for the non-essential businesses, so many people suffer from closing schools, businesses, and losing their jobs since March 21. Especially, closing business as nail salons, hair salons, and travel agencies, small size catering services, restaurants, and café caused lower-income families to face tremendous hardship for daily survival.

- Pray for 5 minutes before the bed on overcoming the COVID-19.
- Emergency Phone line operates for COVID-19 update news through 201-862-1116, between 9 am and 12 am daily in Korean, Japanese, and Chinese
- Place and announce the update news on the AWCA website and SMS, such as, Facebook, Twitter, and Kakao Talk for Korean, Wechat for Chinese, and Lime for Japanese. Also, provide the update COVID-19 news through Englewood Hospital Network, which is one of the community group partners.

Covid-19 사태이후 AWCA가 해왔던 일:
AWCA는 지난 1 월부터 시작된 COVID-19 펜데믹 확산을 막기 위하여 저희 센터의 구성원들은 개인 위생과 자가격리, 등 예방 프로토콜 교육을 시행하여 왔습니다. 2 월부터 AWCA는 센터를 폐쇄하고 카톡과 전체 이메일 등의 단체 대화방을 통해 회원들과 온라인으로 커뮤니케이션을 시작했습니다.
3월 21일 이후 비필수 사업의 문을 닫고 집에 머무르라는 주정부의 행정 명령에 따라 많은 사람들이 학교와 사업장 폐쇄와 실직 등으로 인하여 어려움에 처해 있습니다. 특히 네일 살롱, 미용실, 여행사, 소규모 케이터링 서비스, 식당 및 카페가 문을 닫음으로써 저소득층 가정들은 생존을 위협할 정도로 엄청난 어려움에 직면하고 있습니다. AWCA는 이에 대응하기 위하여 아래와 같은 일들을 진행해 왔습니다.
Covid-19 핫라인 서비스 운영 및 Covid-19 대응 천사 바구니 나누기
- COVID-19 위기 종식을 위하여 잠자기전 5 분 동안 기도해주십시오.
- 비상 핫라인이 한국어, 일본어 및 중국어로 매일 오전 9시에서 자정까지 201-862-1116을 통해 COVID-19 업데이트 뉴스를 위해 운영됩니다.
- AWCA 웹 사이트 및 Facebook, Twitter, Kakao Talk (한국어), Wechat (중국어), Lime (일본어), 등의 SMS를 통하여 업데이트 뉴스를 게시하고 있습니다. 또한 커뮤니티 그룹 파트너 중 하나 인 Englewood Hospital Network를 통해 COVID-19 업데이트 뉴스를 제공하고 있습니다.
- COVID-19 위기에 따라 수정된 사회 복지 프로그램, 푸드 스탬프, 실업 수당에 대한 정보와 지원을 제공합니다.
- AWCA의 사회 복지 방송 서비스 (매주 토요일 오전 8시 30분-9시)에서 AM1660 라디오방송을 통해 COVID-19 업데이트 뉴스 및 관련된 새로운 복지 혜택에 관한 정보와 상담을 제공합니다.
- COVID-19 위기 기간 동안 AWCA는 60세 이상 시니어들이 버겐카운티에서 제공하는 ‘집에서 식사 서비스를 받을 수 있는 혜택’을 지원하는 일을 도와줍니다. 이 서비스는 7 일 분량의 냉동 식품을 개별 수령인의 집으로 직접 배달하는 것입니다. 받으신 분들은 전자 레인지를 사용하여 쉽게 드실 수 있습니다. 메뉴는 영양사에 의하여 적절한 영양 균형에 따라 정해진 것입니다.
- 자가격리 기간 동안 많은 사업주, 직원, 노인, 홀부모 가정은 생존에 대한 두려움에 직면해 있습니다. AWCA는 COVID-19 릴리프 엔젤 바스켓 나누기를 통해 필요한 생존 제품을 모아서 바구니에 담아 한 달에 한번 필요한 가족에게 배달하고 있습니다. Angel Baskets에는 쌀, 만두, 스팸 및 다른 음식이 포함되어 있습니다. 또는 바스켓에는 필요한 가족에게 마트 기프트 카드가 들어있을 수 있습니다. 이 나누기 운동의 목적은 도움이 필요한 가족에게 기본적인 음식을 확보하는 것입니다. 이 나누기는 누구나 참여할 수 있습니다.

A Five-Minute-Prayer before Bedtime & Covid-19 Relief Angel Basket Drive
People are faced with hard times right now, and that hardship will continue and could even get worse. The Covid-19 has disrupted economic activity, shut down all schools, and given us worries and fears about our ordinary life. AWCA will do our best to help you overcome these difficulties.
We’d like to suggest:
- First, let us all continue praying for 5 minutes before bedtime to end Covid-19.
- Second, support our Covid-19 Relief Angel Basket Drive.
- To make it possible AWCA will keep praying, and make ANGEL baskets for all needy people affected by the quarantine due to Covid-19 as soon as possible.
- ANGEL Baskets include Food (rice, ramen, spam, etc.), sanitizer, masks, Covid-19 Safety Tips, 2020 Census Form sample, etc.
- AWCA will continue supporting needy people including senior members (Korean, Chinese, and Japanese) and single parent families.
Please support us by donating to “Covid-19 Relief Angel Basket Drive.” Your gift will be used to deliver these lovely baskets in rapid response to the Covid-19 crisis to the needy. It will be available in the first week of April. Donors receive full tax credits.
