AWCA Homecare Agency

The AWCA became the first Asian American organization in the state of New Jersey to obtain licensure as a Health Care Service Firm in 2003. The AWCA Homecare Agency trains certified home health aides (CHHA) who are sent to the homes of persons with disabilities, recovering from surgery, or are seriously ill, within the Korean and Chinese American community, to monitor health and assist with daily chores. This service is especially appreciated by seniors who would otherwise have to leave their family or homes to live in a nursing home. The AWCA Homecare Agency steps in and eliminates a bit of the stressors for caretakers and assists the clients in gaining greater independence. The 2-week-long training course for the CHHAs, as well as periodic training for existing CHHAs, occur four times a year. The AWCA will continue the expansion of services to meet the needs of all physically limited Asian Americans.

* Clients must meet eligibility requirements to receive approval from Medicaid or must be able to make private payments.
